The king of the Scythians, Marmaroth challenges the emperor in a personal battle, to decide the fate of the war; Maximian was unwilling to clash with the Scythian king, since he was a giant, so Orentius voluntarily steps forward to fight in his place and like David before Goliath, he kills the leader of the invaders, taking his head to Maximian, who immediately organizes ceremonies to thank the gods, but Orentius and his brothers refuses to participate, being Christians. Despite this, they were at first filled with honors and gifts including the belt of Marmaroth. But after a few days, Maximian radically changes his attitude towards him, Orentius and his brothers are forced to renounce their faith and since they refuse, they are immediately exiled to Satala, today Sadagh in Armenia. They are given the opportunity to renounce Christianity and thus be able to return and receive the due reward, otherwise they will be taken into exile in Abasgia and Zicchia, which happened in the end. During this long and uncomfortable forced march towards the Caucasus, Eros was the first to die when he arrived in Kené Parembolé, a city on the coast between Trebizond and Rhizos, two days after June 24, the caravan reached Rhizos and Orenzio was thrown into the sea with a stone at the neck but the Archangel Raphael comes to his aid, placing him on a rock, where he dies and is buried. - + St Christina of Tyre in Phoenicia, was a young girl imprisoned for her faith. Her mother tried to argue her into making the required pagan sacrifices, but Christina refused, and was martyred. Some have tried to argue that she is a fictional character, but the nature of her cult in Greece militates against that impious pretension. Her story and that of St Christina of Bolsena seem to have been conflated.
- + St Christina Mirabilis or Christine the Admirable or Christina the Astonishing Born to a peasant family, orphaned as a child, and raised by two older sisters. At age 21, she experienced a severe seizure of what may have been epilepsy. It was so severe as to be cateleptic, and she was thought to have died. During her funeral Mass, she suddenly recovered, and levitated to the roof of the church. Ordered down by the priest, she landed on the altar and stated that she had been to hell, purgatory, and heaven, and had been returned to earth with a ministry to pray for souls in purgatory. Her life from that point became a series of strange incidents cataloged by a Thomas de Cantimpre, Dominican professor of theology at Louvain who was a contemporary who recorded his information by interviewing witnesses, and by Jacques Cardinal de Vitny who knew her personally. She exhibited both unusual traits and abilities. For example, she could not stand the odor of other people because she could smell the sin in them, and would climb trees or buildings, hide in ovens or cupboards, or simply levitate to avoid contact. She lived in a way that was considered poverty even in the 13th century, sleeping on rocks, wearing rags, begging, and eating what came to hand. She would roll in fire or handle it without harm, stand in freezing water in the winter for hours, spend long periods in tombs, or allow herself to be dragged under water by a mill wheel, though she never sustained injury. Given to ecstasies during which she led the souls of the recently dead to purgatory, and those in purgatory to paradise. People who knew her were divided in their opinions: she was a holy woman, touched of God, and that her actions and torments were simulations of the experiences of the souls in purgatory; she was suffering the torments of devils; she was flatly insane. However, the prioress of Saint Catherine’s convent testified that no matter how bizarre or excessive Christina’s reported actions, she was always completely obedient to the orders of the prioresses of the convent. Christina was a friend of Louis, Count of Looz, whose castle she visited, and whose actions she rebuked. Blessed Marie of Oignies thought well of her, and Saint Lutgardis sought her advice. Died in the Lord, July 24, 1224 at Saint Catherine's convent, Sint-Truiden, Flanders.

Two years later, she and her mother moved to their lands in Egypt. There, while still a child, Euphrasia entered a convent; her mother died soon after of natural causes, leaving the novice an orphan. At age twelve Euphrasia was ordered by the emperor Aracdius, successor to Theodosius, to marry the senator’s son as arranged. Euphrasia requested that she be relieved of the marriage arrangement, that the emperor sell off her family property, and that he use the money to feed the poor and buy the freedom of slaves. Arcadius agreed, and Euphyrasia spent her life in the Egyptian convent. Noted for her prayer life, and constant self-imposed fasting; she would sometimes spend the day carrying heavy stones from one place to another to exhaust her body and keep her mind off temptations. She suffered through gossip and false allegations, much of it the result of being a foreigner in her house. She is held up as a model by St John Damascene.

This expedition ended in disaster for St Gwinear and his followers who were massacred, possibly on the spot where the Gwinear parish church now stands, by the heathen chieftain Teudar (Theodore). The chief stronghold of Teudar was at Riviere, and now lies buried under the sands at Hayle Towens. The disciples of St Patrick do not seem to have been greatly discouraged by the massacre of St Gwinear and his Companions. A fresh band of missionaries was formed to go to Cornwall. St Germoe was chosen among many others (inc St Breaca, probably his brother) to take part in this expedition. A landing was effected at St Ives but no sooner had this intrepid band reached land than it was violently assailed by the heathen Teudar, and many missionaries were slain at Conetconia, now buried under the Hayle Towens. St Germoe escaped, and eventually found safety in the distractions in the south side of Tregonning, possibly amongst a Cornish clan which had successfully resisted Teudar's power. "What doth it profit a man to gain the whole world and to lose his soul?"
No one can be saved, and go to heaven, unless he confess that Jesus Christ is God, that Jesus Alone is God, in the Trinity, and that the Church He established and guaranteed, the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic (Roman) Church, under the lawful successor of St Peter, is the only true Church, that Heretics and Apostates cannot become lawful Popes, that there was a Vacancy in the Papacy from the death of Pope Pius XII, October 28, 1958, and until the election of Pope Michael, July 16, 1990. (See Unam Sanctam and the Council of Florence's Decree for the Jacobites Cantate Domino).
Heaven and Hell are permanent. You can't be lost from Heaven. You can't be saved (recovered) from Hell.
Return to the Catholic Church under His Holiness Pope Michael I.
